Don’t just Dream it, Do it!

“…make the most of every opportunity” (Colossians 4:5 NLT)

When I was a kid I used to dream big. And I mean big! Now I’m not talking about daydreams; I’m talking giant dreams. I dreamed about serving God in a big way with the little I‘ve got. Now I’m a little older I don’t dream anymore. I live it. My worst nightmare would be of me not living out what God has laid on my heart, and not playing my part.

Question: are you playing your part?

Don’t just dream it, do it! With God it can be more than a dream, it can be reality. You don’t believe me? Well I have confidence that some dreams are sent from Heaven. Things I dreamt as a child are coming true. I dreamed that God would speak through me, that I would be a pen in His hand. I never forgot it, holding it in my heart. My dreams lay dormant year after year until not too long ago when I was sitting on the bus God sent me a wee reminder. I was reading a book about a handful of women who took up the challenge to change the world for God, and I thought back to the day where God dropped a dream into my head, and wrote it on my heart.

Now, me being me talk to myself all the time in my head, “I wish I could write a book!” was my heart-cry that day. The Spirit spoke, “well, what’s stopping you?” I was gob-smacked. I couldn’t even answer Him. I couldn’t think of anything that was holding me back. Nothing seemed too big a deal to get in the way of picking up a pen and paper. Yeah, sure I was going to do my A Levels in a couple of months but could I really let my dream pass me by? So I said “yes.” Do you know why? Because I’m not only a dreamer, I’m a doer. It wasn’t a delusion from the devil but a God-goal that I’m working towards. I hope you take a leaf out of my book and don’t just dream it but go for it. Make the most of every opportunity and the Lord will make the most out of you.

Question: is your all at His altar?  How can we hold back even an ounce of ourselves when God didn’t hold back His Son?  How can we give our little when God gave His lot?

Point to ponder?

Are you a dreamer? Or a DOER? Go on, make the most of what you’ve got!  Never ever let anything stand in your way of serving Jesus.
